Yesterday I stayed up until 12:00 AM watching the Presidential election, as the numbers rose my excitement grew larger and larger. Barrack Obama had been elected President of the United States. Now I know not everyone was in support of him, but even if you weren't, there is no denying the magnitude of what happened on November 4, 2008. Just a little Black History for you. Africans started out as Kings and Queens and through the passage to America were reduced to the role of slaves. From slaves we moved up to being counted as 1/3 of a person, we weren't even considered full American citizens. A few years later, we still didn't have access to many of our God given rights. We were shot, hanged, and brutally harassed for simply trying to express our opinion. And further ahead in the future we finally gained the right to vote. And last night on November 4, 2008 we elected the first African American President. My 80 year old grandmother who lived through watching her father be shot in the head by members of the KKK lived to see this happen. My only regret is that my Aunt, Adrienne, didn't live to see this happen but I know she's watching (luvv you). Regardless of who you voted for or what you believe in, I think we can all say we are proud of America for coming this far and for electing a President that belives in teh phrase "Yes we can". God Bless you all and God Bless America.

Disney Movie of the Week: Sleeping Beauty
"I know you I walked with you once upon a dream"....actually I don't know you, but I do know that Sleeping Beauty is an awesome movie. This Disney adaptation of a popular fairytale was released January 29, 1959, and is the sixteenth movie in the Disney Animated Features Canon. Now this movie is extra speacial because it was the last Disney Animated feature produced by Walt Disney to be based upon a fairy tale. By owning this movie you own not only a piece of entertainment, but a piece of Disney history.
The basic plot of Sleeping Beauty is pretty much self explanatory. Its about a sleeping beauty. In more detail, this movie is about Princess Aurora who is betrothed at birth to Prince Phillip. Everything is going fine as the three good faeries (flora, fauna, and Merryweather) bless Aurora with gifts of beauty and song, but then the evil witch Maleficent arrives. Her gift is that when Aurora turns 16, she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. As you can see, this would put a damper on things. Luckily for our princess, the last faerie has yet to give her gift. So through some good ol faerie magic, she makes it so that Aurora will only fall asleep instead of dying. Does it work? I can't tell you,so you'll have to watch the movie and find out. I know the suspense is killing you. Give in to it.

Overated Expectations
Some people stop caring. Most people come to this point of their lives later in life. but I'm sixteen and I already have given up on living up to people's expectations. All my life I've been a "good girl". I study, I stay out of trouble, hell on most weekends I stay in my bedroom and draw. Lately, though it just isn't enough. No matter what a person does it's never enough. The grades aren't high enough, friends aren't good enough, nothing is ever enough. So why bother? If life is about making yourself happy, why should I care about what other people expect of me; because as long as I try and please these people I will forever be miserable because they are never satisfied. So I say screw, screw people and their expectations. I'm doing what I want to make me happy, and what people think doesn't matter.

An Antidote to Your Ignorance
This afternoon I was severely bored because I thought Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill were coming on...but they didn't. Anywayyyy, I took this opportunity to broaden my vocabulary. I was searching around Urban Dictionary when I came across the term "Swap Donkey"! As an antidote to your ignorance I have provided not only the definition of a swap donkey but also and example.
Swap Donkey: A very ugly, usually fat girl who hangs around in bars and clubs waiting to sexually assault males who are too drunk to defend themselves
I.E. "Dang!Look at her, what a swamp donkey"

Cartoon of the Week: Danny Phantom
Once again I am providing free publicity for Nickelodeon by supporting there cartoon Danny Phantom. I would explain the plot of the show but the entire story is rapped in the coolest theme song ever...
" Yo Danny Phantom he was just 14
when his parents built a very strange machine
Designed to view a world unseen
(he's gonna catch em all cuz he's danny phantom phantom)
When it didn't quite work
his folks they just quit
then Danny took a look inside of it
there was a great big flash
every thing just changed
his molecules got all rearranged
(phantom phantom)
When he first woke up he had realized
he had snow white hair
and glowin green eyes
he could walk through walls
dissappear and fly
he was much more unique then the other guys
and it was then danny knew what he had to do
he had to stop all the ghosts that were comin through
he's here to fight for me and u
(he's gonna catch em all cuz he's danny phantom gonna catch em all
cuz he's danny phantom gonna catch em all cuz he's)
* He's Danny Phantom (whisper)
I think this song pretty much explains why this cartoon is the coolest show ever. It comes on every morning on Nicktoons t.v at 7AM and 7:30 AM

Gotta Catch Em All
I am sitting in study hall because once again I am being unfairly punished for being .5 seconds late to class. Just when I think there is no way of entertaining my self I notice a gathering at the front of the classroom. Three underclassmen Charlotte Hawkins, Robert Leverett, and my favorite freshmen Max Loparco are playing with Pokemon cards, yes you heard me Pokemon cards. This game is no joke, they were having a legit and intense battle with Pokemon cards. Of course I am rooting for my favorite freshmen Max Loparco. The battle intensifies as Robert throws down a Spinarak, and when Charlotte realizes she's lost she throws down the cards in anguish. This is a typical day in 5th period study hall.
